I am a multimedia journalist from India currently based in Berlin, Germany as a German Chancellor Fellow in Media and Journalism (2015-16) at the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. My areas of focus are human rights and the environment. As an independent journalist, I have documented under-reported issues in over 25 countries – including witch hunting in India, political satire in Myanmar, struggles of the transgender community in Nicaragua, resurgence of Kurdish culture and politics in Syria and slavery in Iraq.
My work has appeared in international media outlets such as Al Jazeera English, Radio Netherlands Worldwide, Weekendavisen and The Caravan and more. I am also the Editor and Global video strategist at lovematters.in/en – a digital platform that gives non-judgmental information about sexuality and sexual health to youth in India. I have been awarded the Youth Champions Initiative grant by the David and Packard Lucile Foundation for innovation in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (2014-15).
I am an Erasmus Mundus Scholar with an MA in Journalism (2009-11), as well as a gold medallist as a Bachelor of Mass Media (Journalism) at the University of Mumbai (2005-08). If you'd like to know more, feel free to have a look at my CV.
In 2014, I co-founded NowHere Media alongwith my long-time collaborator Felix Gaedtke.
